Scholarship Spotlight: Ben & Jerry’s Scholarship for Refugees & Asylum Seekers

The Ben & Jerry's Foundation is funding scholarships for refugees and asylum seekers, and you can apply for one now!

We are happy to announce that for the May and July 2020 Bootcamps, we have scholarships available for refugees and asylum seekers, based in the UK, to campaign on any issue.

A Bootcamp is a six-day residential training open to activists in the UK who want to campaign strategically and with confidence. There you’ll be able to tool yourself up to run powerful campaigns, and meet new co-conspirators while you’re at it!

Now more than ever, refugees and asylum seekers are being isolated and denied opportunities. The scholarships funded by the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation will give refugee and asylum-seeking activists the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge to run necessary campaigns.

Sam joined us on Bootcamp 13 to increase his confidence in delivering campaigns. After facing various challenges in the UK and Zimbabwe, Sam saw an opportunity to help other people and positively impact their lives through campaigning. He became actively involved in the awareness-raising of the difficulties and challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees in the UK and is part of the charity Displaced People In Action, challenging the stigma of asylum seekers and refugees.

If you’re successful in getting a scholarship you’ll get access to the full year-long Campaign Bootcamp programme. It starts with a week of intensive training where you’ll develop the tools to run thoughtful campaigns. After the residential is over you’ll be able to attend follow up events and receive community support.

If you’re a grassroots campaigner this scholarship can cover the full fee of coming on Bootcamp (£3,600) if required.

Don’t think you’re eligible for this scholarship? No problem!
