Apply by 9 am GMT on Tuesday 10th March for our Scholarship for Policing and Criminal Justice Campaigners.
We are pleased to announce that the Scholarship for Policing and Criminal Justice Campaigners, a previous Bootcampers’ Choice Scholarship will continue to be funded at Bootcamp 18 and 19, this time funded by AB Charitable Trust.
‘It’s not easy to campaign on this particular issue and the risks are high’, says Bootcamp graduate Siana, who produced 1,500 and Counting, a film investigating deaths in police custody in the UK. ‘Any resources that can support campaigners tirelessly working on policing issues are welcome’.
‘Irresponsible, violent and racist policing has always been a deep-rooted issue in the UK‘, Siana explains. ‘However, the common narrative and distraction tactic is to look towards other countries such as the USA as “worse than us”. The UK has a prison industrial complex, woefully under-reported and actually worse than the USA with regards to the proportionality of Black populations in the country vs numbers behind bars’.
