Today we’re launching a scholarship for people who have experience of mental health problems and want to campaign around mental health issues.

A few years ago a close family member of mine started to struggle badly with their mental health. I remember feeling really scared and useless.

As a campaigner, my immediate reaction was to want to do something, to fix something, or to at least shout about it. But all the campaigning in the world couldn’t help the person I loved at that moment.

As they learnt ways to manage their condition, I discovered that there is a huge amount of campaigning to be done around mental health.

Mental health has always been a core part of the Bootcamp syllabus because the highs and lows of campaigning can make managing your mental health tough. Today I’m excited that we’re going to be able to do a little bit more.

Thanks to the amazing team at Mind we’re launching a scholarship for campaigners who have experience of mental health problems and want to campaign around mental health issues. I hope this can be one more step to beating back the stigma around mental health, and improving the quality of mental health care.

Now we just need to find someone who can come on the scholarship. Could you help us get the word out about it by sharing  this blog from Tom at Mind?

If you want to apply for the scholarship all you have to do is tick the ‘yes’ box on the application form when it asks if you want a scholarship.
