Please submit a proposal detailing examples of your relevant skills and experience and how you would approach this opportunity.

Deadline for proposals: 10am on Tuesday 13th April 2021

After a period of sustained growth, internal change, and with secured funding for the rest of 2021, we are keen to recruit a consultant to work closely with our Leadership Team, to support the charity through the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and reduced capacity in key roles, and to embark on a period of change as we emerge from it.

The consultant would report into the Head of Operations and work closely with the CEO, the Board Co-Chairs, and the Leadership Team of the charity to bring capacity, expertise and experience into delivering a number of strategic projects that have been identified linked to our annual planning and strategy work.

We are looking for a consultant who has experience working in a similar sized charity, has an interest in building collaborative processes that involve the whole organisation and is committed to building an organisation that is actively anti-oppressive.

The consultant will take a lead on the following;

  • Facilitate the development of our strategic planning for the coming year – working across the organisations to ensure this is a collaborative process, which provides for all staff clear objectives and goals, alongside a clear business and operational model.
  • Work closely with the Board to ensure its governance is fit for purpose through a governance review, and support with the recruitment and onboarding of new trustees.
  • Conducting a risk register review, bringing the whole staff team on board and embedding risk management into day to day work.
  • Oversee the Pay Scales Review which will result in a transparent, benchmarked remuneration structure with a corresponding Policy and user-friendly procedure. Staff members will feel engaged, clear and confident about how their pay is assessed and how to move through the pay grades. People managers will be equipped and knowledgeable to apply the policy consistently and fairly within their teams. HR and recruiting managers will be able to recruit and retain talented individuals.

In the coming months, we will also be undertaking a culture review, and although this work will be carried out by others it’ll be important that the consultant is linked to this work to help create and advance a shared vision and culture for Campaign Bootcamp.

In addition, as a small charity, we hope the individual will be able to provide ‘surge’ support to help as needed on other projects – we’re looking for someone able to roll up sleeves to jump in to help with projects as they arise.

We envisage the consultancy will be for up to approx. 3 days per week, initially for a 3-month period, but would work with the consultant to agree the suitable number of days.  We are flexible and open to discussing your weekly hours and pay rates as for the right skills we’re happy to work flexibly with you.

Successful candidates will have/be:

  • An charity/non-profit leader, with experience in a senior management position.
  • Naturally collaborative with the will and skill to integrate quickly into the team.
  • Experience of leading collaborative strategy/planning processes, including engaging and valuing the input of staff at all levels.
  • Knowledge and experience of working and leading meaningful consultation with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A background in anti-oppressive leadership.
  • Able to respond quickly and effectively to the demands of an interim role.

The work of Campaign Bootcamp is to provide the tools and skills to people with less power to challenge those with more. Applications are strongly encouraged from all backgrounds, communities and industries, and we are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities. We actively encourage BAME, disabled applicants and those from marginalised backgrounds and value the positive impact that difference has on our teams. We know that a diversity of experience leads to the best learning and outcomes.
